According to reports, a young person in Anambra State was shot dead by a trigger-happy police officer named Inspector Sani Suleiman over a dispute over N100.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday at the police checkpoint where the officer was assigned in the Anambra East Local Government Area.
According to additional reports, the victim and the officers at the checkpoint got into a minor argument over N100. As the argument was getting out of hand, the police inspector pulled his gun and fired the victim.
A video purportedly shared by an Aguleri eyewitness, which showed the victim's body lying in a pool of his blood, supported this.
The deceased victim was his parents' only son, according to a local source.
In an interview with reporters, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Anambra State Police Command's Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the situation was known to the Command and that the officer had been identified and disarmed.
He added that the incident is being investigated and that the officer is currently being held.
Inspector Sani Suleiman has been identified as the police officer in question.
The police spokesperson stated, "He has been disarmed and placed under arrest for additional investigations and internal disciplinary actions."
